Modular Solar Energy

From Scientific American. Oerlikon's industrial technology (brand name: micromorph) allows the construction of modular solar panels (1.4sqm, 25Kg) that are more efficient (9% of energy is converted in electricity, up to 95Watt of power) and don't contain toxic or rare elements.
Quoting:
"We're taking … an Intel-inside type of approach," says Chris O'Brien, Oerlikon's marketing chief in North America. "We're able to sell customers a turnkey [assembly] line with guaranteed module performance and throughput at a fixed price."
